بناء مطار جديد بالقرب من الحدود في منطقة بيلغورود

Russians are constructing a new airfield near the border in the Belgorod region. The village of Alexeyevka, approximately 70 km from the Ukrainian border, serves as the location for the airport’s development. The construction site, situated around 9 km west of Alexeyevka, is expected to support the Russian military grouping “West,” which encompasses logistics centers for military unit supplies.

The report was initially made by OSINT researcher RedIntelPanda on X (formerly Twitter). The researcher shared satellite images displaying the various stages of construction. These images reveal that construction preparations began last year, with a road being constructed in July 2023 leading to the future site. The planning of the runway was subsequently completed by the start of winter. Construction resumed in April 2024, with a base layer of concrete pavement being laid on the runway as of April 27th.

RedIntelPanda, utilizing the Sentinel Hub, estimated the runway’s length to be around 1800 meters, capable of accommodating different aircraft types. Notably, civilian flights over the specified area of the Russian Federation have been prohibited due to the Ukrainian invasion. No reports in the Russian media have indicated the construction of a new civilian airport in the Belgorod region, leading RedIntelPanda to suggest that the purpose of this airfield is military in nature.
