Russia to Send Electronic Conscription Notices to Citizens Starting November 1, 2024

Russia is set to begin sending electronic conscription notices to Russian citizens on November 1, 2024. The notices will be sent through the newly launched Unified Register of Military Registration, according to Russian media reports. The register is scheduled to start operating on October 31, 2024. The relevant categories of recruits will receive the electronic summonses the day after the register becomes operational. The notifications regarding military registration, acceptance, or removal of citizens, as well as temporary restrictive measures, will be sent through the Gosuslugi service. These measures include prohibiting a conscript from leaving the country if they fail to report to the military enlistment office within 20 days. The register will collect crucial information about the conscripts’ health, place of residence, work, and education.

It is important to note that Russian media has reported that the conscription process in the fall of 2024 will be entirely conducted using electronic draft notices. In related news, it has been reported that Russian private military companies have been recruiting Ukrainian citizens in the temporarily occupied territories for deployment to Africa. The so-called Wagner PMC has launched a recruitment campaign targeting men aged 22 to 50, as reported by Militarnyi.
