توقيع مذكرة تفاهم بقيمة 20 مليار دولار بين Rheinmetall و Leonardo لتطوير مركبة خالية من Infanterie ودبابة جديدة

Rheinmetall and Leonardo have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a new infantry fighting vehicle and tank, potentially worth $20 billion. According to Rheinmetall’s press service, the joint venture will focus on industrial development and commercialization of a new Main Battle Tank (MBT) and the Lynx Platform for the Armoured Infantry Combat System (AICS) for the Italian Army’s ground systems programs. While the Lynx IFV already exists, the designs for the future tank are still in progress. Rheinmetall has reportedly received an order for 350 Lynx IFVs and over 200 Panther main battle tanks from the Italian government. The deal, valued at approximately €20 billion, is expected to span the next 15 years.
Under the partnership, Leonardo will be responsible for developing the combat information system, electronic components, and the integration of combat systems and weapons for both projects. The two companies plan to establish final assembly lines, homologation testing, delivery activities, and logistic support in Italy, with a 60% Italian workshare. Additionally, Rheinmetall and Leonardo plan to collaborate on the Main Ground Combat System project. Rheinmetall is also expanding its presence in Eastern Europe, with its first facilities already deployed in Ukraine and plans for further expansion.
