Drone operators reveal destruction of rare Russian 2S34 Hosta SPG
Drone operators from the ‘Adam’ combined tactical group and the ‘Angels’ aerial reconnaissance unit have released a video showing the destruction of a rare Russian 2S34 Hosta self-propelled gun (SPG). The video was released by the ‘Adam’ combined tactical group. The incident took place at coordinates 47.945004, 37.530501, north of the village of Mariinka, in the Donetsk region. The Hosta SPG, equipped with an anti-drone “grill,” failed to protect itself from a reconnaissance drone and FPV drones.
The 2S34 Hosta SPG is a deep modernization of the 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer and is designed to suppress manpower, artillery and mortar batteries, rocket launchers, armored targets, fire and control posts at a distance of up to 14 km. During the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, the Russians have lost about 5 2S34 SPGs, with at least two of them captured by Ukrainian troops. The Hosta SPG was specifically produced for the Russian army from 2003 to 2008 and there are approximately 40 of these SPGs in service with the Russian Armed Forces. There are also two experimental variants of the Hosta, the 2S34-1 and 2S34M, which feature different modifications and improvements to the original model.
