اليابان تجري اختبار لصاروخ باليستي جديد في كاليفورنيا، أمريكا

Japan has conducted a test of a domestically developed ballistic missile at a missile range in California, USA. The test took place on March 23, 2024, with experts from the Japanese Ministry of Defense and the Defense Institute collecting relevant information on the missile’s flight capabilities. The official YouTube page of the procurement agency published a video of the test.

The missile, known as HVGP Block 1, is being developed as a high-speed anti-ship missile for island defense. The Ministry of Defense aims to complete the development by 2028, with the missile expected to enter service in the same year. The exact range of the missile is currently unknown, but the procurement agency states that it will be able to cover a distance of more than 300 km. Additionally, other variants of the missile, such as Block 2A and Block 2B, which focus on increased range and speed, are also being developed. The development of these missiles was initiated in 2015 in response to the increased missile tests by North Korea.
