افتتاح محطة عسكرية جديدة في مدينة شياولي الليتوانية
A new military station for an infantry battalion and the National Defence Volunteer Forces was opened in the Lithuanian city of Šiauliai. The Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence stated that this represents the third military facility of such size in the country. The military station was designed and constructed to meet the modern needs of the army, with all the necessary infrastructure for a battalion unit. It includes administrative and special-purpose buildings, warehouses, garages, a gas station, and a car wash. Additionally, there are technical areas and parking spaces, including those adapted for electric vehicles and people with disabilities. The Šiauliai military station can accommodate about 660 servicemen, and in total, the three facilities can house 2,400 military and civilian defense personnel. The construction, maintenance, and services for these campuses have an estimated cost of €231 million. About five million euros will be allocated annually for the upkeep of one campus. This development is part of the comprehensive reinforcement of several border sections in Lithuania executed jointly by the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
