الاتحاد الأوروبي يوافق على تقديم مساعدة عسكرية لقوات الجيش الأرميني في أول قرار من نوعه

The European Union has approved a decision to provide military assistance to the Armed Forces of Armenia for the first time. This decision was made by the EU Council on July 22. The €10 million assistance will be provided under the European Peace Facility (EPF), marking the first such decision for Armenia. The aim of this assistance is to strengthen the material and technical capacity of the Armenian army and improve the protection of civilians in crisis and emergency situations. Additionally, it will enable Yerevan to enhance the compatibility of its troops with Western forces in order to participate in joint operations with the EU in the future.

The support from the EU is also intended to increase Armenia’s resilience and ensure the interoperability of its Armed Forces for potential participation in international military missions and operations, including those led by the European Union. The assistance will allow for the provision of a full-fledged tent camp for a battalion-sized unit. European diplomat Josep Borrell emphasized the interest in expanding dialogue on foreign and security policy with Armenia and contemplated its potential future involvement in EU-led missions and operations. This support is part of the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement.
