The Netherlands and Austria have agreed to purchase a total of nine Brazilian C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft. The contract was signed on July 22 at the Farnborough International Airshow in the UK. The Royal Netherlands Air Force will receive five aircraft, while four will be delivered to the Austrian Air Force. The C-390 will replace outdated C-130 Hercules transport aircraft in the Netherlands. The joint procurement between the two countries is expected to result in significant cost savings and will also cover training, spare parts, and auxiliary equipment. The first three aircraft for the Netherlands are set to be delivered by the end of 2027. The KC-390 Millennium, manufactured by Embraer, is a multifunctional twin-engine medium-range transport jet aircraft. It has a maximum payload of 23 tons and can fly over a distance of 2,590 km with such a load. With a payload of 13.3 tons, it can cover a distance of 4,800 km, and it has a range of over 6,000 km. Besides the Netherlands and Austria, Portugal, Hungary, and the Czech Republic have also ordered these aircraft.
