تأخر إنتاج صواريخ دفاع جوية باتريوت الأمريكية بسبب نقص في مكون حاسم تصنعه شركة بوينغ
The American plan to boost production of Patriot air defense missiles is facing delays due to a shortage of a critical component manufactured by Boeing. Reuters news agency reported this, citing four informed sources. The United States intends to increase the production of interceptor missiles for the Patriot air defense system from about 500 a year to over 750 per year. Japanese companies are involved in scaling up the production. The key obstacle to increasing production is the pace of delivery of the missiles’ seekers, which are supplied by Boeing. Expanding annual PAC-3 production in Japan beyond 60 would require Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to build additional capacities, potentially costing tens of millions of dollars or more.
Furthermore, the production of anti-aircraft missiles for the Patriot system is also planned in Germany and Romania. Raytheon and MBDA Deutschland have announced the launch of production in Schrobenhausen, Germany, while the local Romanian company Electromecanica Ploiesti will produce the SkyCeptor interceptor missile. In addition, Lockheed Martin has signed a memorandum with the Spanish company Grupo Oesia to localize the production of components for PAC-3 MSE missiles.
