The 425th Assault Battalion Skala launched a rapid maneuver with an M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, utilizing night vision devices and thermal imagers. Ten Russian soldiers from the 1st Battalion of the 57th Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces were holding the trenches. Two Russian soldiers were eliminated, prompting the rest to surrender. The assault group did not suffer any losses.

According to a captured soldier, some of the Russians were mobilized prisoners and ex-convicts, with the 3rd Battalion consisting entirely of prison convicts.
