لاتفيا ترسل شحنة من أكثر من 500 طائرة تصوير بدون طيار إلى أوكرانيا كجزء من تحالف الطائرات بدون طيار الدولي
Latvia has sent a shipment of over 500 drones to Ukraine as part of the international Drone Coalition. The announcement was made by Latvian Defense Minister Andris Sprūds, who shared photos of the packed boxes before they were shipped. The drones, worth €4 million, will be handed over to the Ukrainian Defense Forces this month. These drones are being supplied as part of the Drone Coalition, led by Latvia and manufactured by seven Latvian companies. In total, more than 2,500 drones will be delivered to Ukraine. The Drone Coalition currently consists of 14 countries, including Latvia, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, and Estonia. The initiative to establish the coalition was announced in December 2023, and a coalition of eight countries was formed in February 2024.
The Drone Coalition has raised €549 million for unmanned aerial vehicles for Ukraine. Furthermore, the Latvian Ministry of Defense has allocated €20 million for the coalition, with €10 million intended for the purchase of drones from the Latvian defense industry. The coalition’s aim is to enhance Ukraine’s drone capabilities. This initiative seeks to strengthen cooperation among the participating countries and enable Ukraine to better respond to various security challenges. The coalition also provides an opportunity for other countries to join in the future. The delivery of the drones marks a significant step in enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities and signifies the ongoing support provided by the international community.
