The Armed Forces of Ukraine have initiated training for crews of Bradley infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) that were received as part of military aid. The training includes mechanics, drivers, gunners, and commanders of combat vehicles. Prior to practical tasks, soldiers undergo theoretical training, followed by practicing shooting and driving at the training ground under instructor supervision. Lessons are practiced on tracks with natural and artificial obstacles to simulate combat conditions. The gunners practice firing with the IFV’s main weapons, including a 25mm automatic cannon, a 7.62mm machine gun, and an anti-tank missile system. The United States provided Ukraine with a significant number of M2 Bradley vehicles as part of military assistance, prompting the need for independent crew training based on their battlefield experience.

The training is aimed at familiarizing soldiers with the M2A2 ODS-SA version of the infantry fighting vehicle, which can be distinguished from older versions by the addition of a driver’s camera. The training footage initially emerged in January 2023, featuring soldiers from the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade. The M2 Bradley crew consists of three individuals, and the IFV has the capacity to transport up to six infantrymen. The Bradleys have already demonstrated their effectiveness against Russian invaders. This training is crucial for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to optimize the use of the American IFVs in their operations.
