قوات نرويجية وسويدية توقع اتفاقية لشراء عربات سككية جديدة لنقل العتاد العسكري

The Armed Forces of Norway and Sweden have signed an agreement with the Norwegian state-owned railway company Bane NOR to purchase new railroad cars for military transportation. The cooperation agreement aims to meet the new transportation needs of Norway and the Nordic countries, enhancing the ability to transport heavy military equipment by rail, including new main battle tanks. The purchase will improve military rail transportation within and between Norway, Sweden, and other European countries. The joint procurement requirements ensure that the railroad cars meet the military needs and regulations of both countries and can also be utilized for civilian freight transportation when not in use by the Armed Forces.

The new cooperation agreement is seen as a strengthening of the defense capabilities of Norway and Sweden, particularly in light of security threats in Europe following the Russian attack on Ukraine. To facilitate the efficient transfer of military equipment and personnel between the countries, a cross-border military transport corridor is being created by Norway, Finland, and Sweden. The defense ministers of the three countries have been tasked with working on the corridor, addressing bottlenecks, updating regulations and legislation, and investing in the necessary infrastructure.
