القوات الدفاعية الأوكرانية تستولي على دبابة روسية من طراز تي-80BVM في منطقة كورسك يوم 10 أغسطس 2024

Ukrainian Defense Forces captured a Russian T-80BVM tank in the Kursk region on August 10, 2024. The tank, numbered 133, was being prepared by the Russians for combat operations in the Kharkiv region. Footage of the captured tank near the village of Honcharivka was shown by Ukrainian journalist Yuriy Butusov. The tank was seized by officers of the SSU Military Counterintelligence Department together with scouts from the 80th Air Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk oblast began on August 6, resulting in hundreds of square kilometers of Russian territory coming under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky stated that about 1,000 km² of Russian territory is under Ukrainian control. The Russian authorities have reported that at least 28 settlements in the Kursk region are under the control of Ukrainian Defense Forces. It is also possible that Russia has lost control of Sudzha, where the largest gas metering station for gas transit to Europe through Ukraine is located. The seized tank was part of a Russian convoy that was advancing into the Kharkiv region.
