In the first half of 2024, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense authorized the use of five armored vehicles for the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The press service of the defense ministry reported this information. These armored vehicles were of Ukrainian and foreign production, serving various purposes. The exact names of the authorized armored vehicle models were not disclosed. One of the authorized vehicles is an armored repair and evacuation vehicle equipped with specialized units and mechanisms for carrying out repairs in the field and evacuating armored vehicles from the battlefield. The Armed Forces of Ukraine also authorized the operation of a new mobile car repair shop capable of handling routine repair and maintenance of automotive and military equipment for company-battalion level units. The Ministry of Defense further codified a domestically produced medical armored vehicle called Kozak-5MED, based on the chassis of an American Ford F-550 pickup truck. This vehicle can transport either four lying wounded or six in a sitting position, in addition to the driver and medical evacuation team personnel. The armored vehicles were approved for operation in order to make purchases from the state budget for units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
