Ukrainian Defense Industry and the US company Northrop Grumman have signed an agreement to establish a new medium-caliber ammunition production facility in Ukraine. The news was published on the website of the President of Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelensky met with top executives of leading American defense companies at the Embassy of Ukraine to the United States and signed the agreement with Northrop representatives.

According to the signed contract, Northrop will start producing medium-caliber ammunition, including rounds in the range of 25×137, 30×113, 30×173, and 35×228 which are in demand by the Ukrainian army. Northrop Grumman is one of the world’s largest weapons manufacturers in the field of armor-piercing ammunition and programmable ammunition. The plans to produce ammunition in Ukraine were announced in June at the Eurosatory defense exhibition in Paris. In addition, Northrop is fulfilling a half-billion-dollar contract to supply artillery ammunition to Ukraine since last year. The Ukrainian delegation discussed joint defense production projects with representatives from various US defense companies.
