Russia has sent a warship, the corvette Mercury, into the Kattegat Strait between Denmark and Sweden. This move aims to monitor a Chinese cargo ship, the Yi Peng 3, which is suspected of damaging telecommunications cables in the Baltic Sea. The Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat reported this development, citing experts who confirmed the warship’s presence through radio intelligence. The Russian vessel’s deployment follows an incident on November 19 when the Danish Navy detained the Yi Peng 3 for allegedly damaging two telecommunications cables.
