On December 2024, Kyiv hosted the final event of the Veterans Games, a nationwide sports competition organized by Ukraine’s Ministry of Veterans Affairs. This event brought together servicemen and veterans who had emerged victorious in regional stages to compete in the disciplines of eSports and CrossFit. The event saw participation from representatives of ministries and specialized organizations involved in veterans’ support and rehabilitation, highlighting the community-centric approach. The opening ceremony was led by Ruslana Velychko-Tryfoniuk, Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs for European Integration, who expressed profound gratitude towards Ukraine’s defenders and underscored the importance of such events in showcasing the challenges veterans face and how they surmount them. The eSports segment featured competitions in Counter-Strike 2, FIFA, and DOTA 2, with events being held online across Ukraine.
