ايران تطلب أنظمة دفاع جوي متقدمة من روسيا استعدادًا لحرب محتملة مع اسرائيل، حسب تقرير صحيفة نيويورك تايمز.

The Iranian government has requested advanced radars and air defense systems from Russia in preparation for a possible war with Israel. The New York Times reported this information, citing its own sources. Two Iranian officials, including a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, confirmed the request. Although specific systems were not named, it is believed to involve Russian-produced air surveillance radar systems and air defense systems. The request was made during former Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu’s visit to Iran, where he met with the country’s new president and the commander of the Iranian armed forces. This request could be part of the preparations for a military operation against Israel, seen as revenge for the recent assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran.

Meanwhile, Russia itself is facing a significant shortage of air defense systems. This shortage is evident from the opening of borders for the transfer of systems to Ukraine and the delay in completing the Indian contract for the supply of S-400 air defense systems. The Russian military has been experiencing losses in air defense systems due to attacks from Ukraine using ATACMS ballistic missiles and GMLRS guided missiles. Due to the redirection of products to meet the needs of the warring army, the Russian defense industry is struggling to cope with deliveries. If the supply is approved, Iran may receive systems from the balance of the Russian Armed Forces, including Pantsir-S1, Tor-M2, Buk-M2, Buk-M3, and the latest S-400, to protect its military facilities from Israeli strikes.
