The United Kingdom has announced that it will provide Ukraine with a shipment of Brimstone guided missiles as part of a new military aid package. The British government’s press service confirmed this information. While the exact modification of the missiles has not been revealed, it is stated that they are anti-tank missiles. Ukraine has been utilizing Brimstone missiles since 2022 when the UK delivered the initial batches of Brimstone 1. The country has now received the newer Brimstone 2 missiles, totaling hundreds of missiles of both types. Due to the unavailability of appropriate carriers, Ukraine uses the Brimstone missiles from mobile ground launchers. The missiles have an effective range of 10-16 km when launched from the ground. Brimstone is a family of air-to-surface guided missiles developed by the MBDA international consortium. These missiles measure 1.8 m in length and 180 mm in diameter. Brimstone missiles employ a millimeter-range homing head and semi-active laser guidance system. When launched from aircraft, the range of Brimstone 2 missiles is 60 km.
