The United States has donated four patrol boats to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink announced this donation on Twitter. The specific type of boats given to the Ukrainian border guards was not revealed, but the ambassador shared a photo of a Metal Shark 45 Defiant boat, which is known for its all-aluminum construction and speed of 35-40 knots. The purpose of these boats is to support Ukrainian farmers and businesses by facilitating the export of goods.
In addition to the US donation, Ukrainian border guards have also received patrol boats from the European Union as part of the “Together with the EU to Secure Borders” project. These boats, manufactured by UMS, are called UMS-425 CC and can carry a crew of four. They are equipped with life jackets and an echo sounder for determining water depth. The aim of this joint effort is to enhance border security in Ukraine. This donation from the United States and the European Union is expected to strengthen Ukraine’s capability to safeguard its borders and promote economic growth.
