A Ukrainian long-range drone manufacturer has recently displayed its facility in western Ukraine, according to The Wall Street Journal. The manufacturer showcased the production process of its drones to journalists. Workers in protective clothing were observed constructing the fuselage of an unnamed drone. The workers demonstrated the process of forming the aircraft skin from fiberglass and the production of mechanical parts. The plant, which produces strike drones with a range of up to 800 kilometers, began operations just six months ago, according to the workers. The owner of the enterprise, who previously produced plastic containers before fleeing the Russian invasion, hired retired specialists with experience in Soviet aviation projects to work on the drone development.
The Ukrainian manufacturer is now focusing on scaling up production to meet the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Currently, 75 people work on the production line, with plans to expand the workforce by hiring 50 more workers and operating in two shifts. The plant can currently produce 1-2 fuselages per day, but the owner recently acquired a second furnace to increase production capacity. Additionally, the company is developing another drone model with an expected flight radius of more than 1000 km.
