رئيس لجنة الأمن والدفاع الأوروبية تطالب ألمانيا ودول الاتحاد الأوروبي بضمان فعالية طائرات القتال F-16 لأوكرانيا
Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, Chair of the European Parliament’s Subcommittee on Security and Defence, has urged Germany and other EU countries to ensure the effectiveness of the F-16 fighter jets recently received by Ukraine. This call for support was reported by ZDF. Strack-Zimmermann also emphasized the need to enhance Ukraine’s air defense systems and provide Taurus cruise missiles from Germany. She stated that the delivery of F-16s is an important signal and effective support. Strack-Zimmermann stressed the importance of Europe’s continuous support for Ukraine’s defense and called on all states to do their utmost to protect Ukraine.
On August 4, it was officially announced that Ukraine had received Western F-16 fighter jets from its European partners. The process of transferring these fighter jets to the Ukrainian Air Force has been time-consuming. The United States will provide military assistance, supplying Ukraine’s F-16 with armament such as AGM-88 HARM anti-radiation missiles, long-range JDAMs, and GBU bombs. They will also supply advanced medium-range and short-range air-to-air missiles. Additionally, Canada has allocated over $280 million to train Ukrainian pilots on F-16s, while the Netherlands is committed to purchasing €450 million worth of weapons for Ukrainian F-16s. This support aims to enhance Ukraine’s defense capabilities and ensure the safe operation of the F-16s.
